At a funeral, or times of loss or sorrow, we recommend the following:

“Do not let you hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may be where I am.”

John 14:1-3

For more use the DOOR…

   (1)  There is a pleasant place in the hereafter for believers.

   (2)  Jesus (the carpenter of Earth¹) will be preparing individual places for the souls (seemingly properly clothed) to live. And He has the blueprints, if not finished structures.

   (3)  In some manner, Jesus will come back to Earth for believers.²

   (4)  We will be with Jesus. Guess who will be in charge?

   (5)  Later in this chapter, Jesus makes it clear that He is in the Father and the Father is in Him.” Further, the only way to the Father is through Him.³

Much more can be said, but this is enough here.

¹ Don’t read too much into the working out of details here. Or if you do, you’re speculating, and if so, smile when you do it.

² Of course, realize that many believers will not be on Earth, having arrived earlier. If fact, many bodies could not be literally raised from graves because they are totally destroyed.

³ The idea of “trinity,” which is a struggle for many, is beautifully addressed in John chapters 14, 15, and 16. Here, the unity of God-the-Father and God-the-Son is introduced.
