We start with Matthew 6:6 (NASB):

.

“But when you pray,” says Jesus, “go into your inner room¹, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father² who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.”³

Here’s one modern way to go about this: Drive to parking lot…say, one like those at Wallmart. Park at a “middle distance”–one that doesn’t attract attention, so don’t park too close. But don’t park too far away either. Some of the homeless, cleverly living in their cars at a distance, may offer unasked for attention–though they’re rarely dangerous because they don’t want to lose their cover. You’re going to be busy at work. Open your Bible–or the Bible on your Kindle (like I have and use)–and read and/or pray to God. You will look like anyone else who’s planning his one’s day on a “device”–or even on paper.

You are in “secret” in a busy world. Praise God the Father, confess your sin, and “ask” for whatever seems necessary.

Then go about your daily business as a child of God.

¹ Don’t neglect discovering other types of “inner rooms.”

² It’s interesting to observe that God-the-Son (present then on Earth) is describing how to pray to God-the-Father (who is invisible to those on Earth). Transdimensionality, not mentioned or even mattering here, is at work.
