These 5 are valentine delights of my life:  (1) Karen, for 44 years of endearing marriage, (2) Phoebe (daughter), (3) Linda, (4) Kandace, and (5) Adi, the last 3 daughters-in-law who, along with my first daughter, all have brains, beauty, persistence, and patience far more than I could have hoped for–so far. For one thing, they’ve managed my sons (who needed some help) and grandchildren well without losing control. And they’ve been good about staying in touch! (Now, I had a list of other delightful itemized personal details, but with a flash of wisdom, and to protect myself, I x’ed out those personal observations from this “public” note.)

I can say 2 things, however: (1) One of my male children once accused me of having “firecracker heroines” in my novels. (2) Bits and pieces from each of you (5) have wiggled into the characters of my enviable heroines. I’d like to thank you for your spirit and the inspiration.

Okay, here’s a 3rd thing: (3) I am deeply grateful for God’s blessing in bringing to me such unbelievably grand women–to me and the rest of my family. I love you all.

Sorry, if I overclichéd. I’ll do better when I see each of you again in person.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all 5 of you!
