First, this is an observational and reflective post¹.

.

 Second, I am pro-life.

.

Third, I have recently come from a large, fundraising banquet to support the saving of unborn children, the assisting of women who find themselves pregnant against their wishes, and the developing of men to become responsible for accepting and raising the children they created². (It was a very well-run program.)

.

One thing called for, that received applause was the repealing of Roe vs Wade.

.

This made me stop, once again, and ponder something that could not easily be discussed there.

(Let me remind you again, I am pro-life.)

Here’s three supposals³ and a one question to follow them.

   (1)  Suppose Roe vs Wade was actually repealed.

   (2)  Suppose this soon (after 9 months…)resulted in thousands of undesired, unwanted children. Of course an “unwanted” child wouldn’t be true in every case, and there would dramatic exceptions to this overall attitude, but careless, and irresponsible breeding hardly leads to responsible and caring parenting for a new baby.

   (3)  Suppose hundreds and hundreds of newborns would end up on church steps with the message attached, “You folks caused all this. No “agencies” can, or will, take all of them and individuals are too busy to step in. Take these children and raise them yourselves.”

Could the church, your church, rise up, claim these babies, and raise them to adulthood?

“Oh yes,” you say, “our church has a heart for those little ones created in His image. We would save them.

.

   Would they?

¹ “Observational and reflective”: A lighter type of post without attending sources like we try to provide.

² This is a paraphrased summary.

³ “Supposal” in a neologism that comes, I believe, from C. S. Lewis. It’s meaning as a noun is obvious.
