A moment to build your vocabulary:

.

chaining – (n)  The behavior that occurs when you “go” to do a certain task, and on the way you discover another task that needs to be done, and as you turn to do deal with the new task, on the way to the new task you discover still another newer task that needs to be done, and so you turn to that one…and so on.

Of course, often the first task gets forgotten and it appears to an observer that you may be going in circles, if not losing your mind.

However, what you’re really doing is chaining. Let an observer wonder about what you just said, and ponder why he’s ignorant of such a simple-sounding word. He may try to find it.

   But he won’t.

Because you first heard about it here. And he or she hasn’t read this post yet…

We hope naming and claiming chaining will enrich your life as you attempt to explain yourself to others.
